Long boss fights expose weaknesses that fast map clears can hide. Before spending Hero Siege Gold on another projectile upgrade for Season 10, ask whether it improves sustained damage against one moving target. The priority should be reliable damage-over-time application, not simply filling the screen with more shots.

Patch 7.0.7, released on September 1, 2026, optimized DOT modifier handling when projectiles carrying DOT effects hit monsters, with the notes stating that this increases DPS. That change does not establish universal stacking rules or guarantee equal gains for every projectile setup.

Separate Screen Coverage from Boss Pressure

For mapping, evaluate extra projectiles as a coverage upgrade: can one attack reach more enemies, spread effects across a pack, or reduce the need to reposition? Those improvements can make clearing feel dramatically faster without proving anything about single-target damage.

Against a boss, count useful connections rather than visible projectiles. If additional shots travel beside the target, their contribution to that encounter may be negligible. Test whether your firing angle and distance let the extra projectiles connect consistently.

Also check your specific skill's DOT behavior. Does another hit create an independent effect, refresh an existing application, or replace it? The September update describes modifier handling, not a blanket answer to those questions, so avoid assuming every additional hit creates another full DOT.

Match Application Frequency to Effect Duration

Use projectile frequency to solve an observed problem. If your effect regularly expires while the boss remains vulnerable, more frequent successful applications deserve testing. If coverage already remains uninterrupted, compare that investment with stronger DOT damage instead.

Duration should likewise serve the encounter. Try enough duration to bridge the periods when you must dodge or reposition, then check whether the effect actually remains active. Do not assume that longer duration automatically increases damage per second.

A useful comparison is a stationary firing window followed by a movement-heavy attempt. Keep the skill and encounter unchanged. Watch for missed applications, effect expiration, and recovery time after movement rather than judging the setup only by its highest displayed number.

Build Around the Fight You Actually Play

Practice tracking the boss before changing equipment. Adjust your aim when it changes direction, and experiment with firing distance where safe. A projectile upgrade is worth more when your positioning allows its shots to reach the intended target.

Compare several attempts with one variable changed at a time. Record completion time and periods without DOT coverage; exclude attempts dominated by unusual interruptions. This gives you a practical basis for choosing frequency, duration, damage, or defensive comfort.

The strongest setup is the one that keeps delivering through the encounter. If you consider cheap Hero Siege Gold for equipment upgrades, choose improvements supported by your boss tests rather than another projectile stat that only looks impressive during mapping.
